Rio Suites Las Vegas on August 13, 2007.
Rio Suites is on West Flamingo Rd. about a mile from the strip (Las Vegas Blvd.) Owned by Harrah's. Harrah's provides a free shuttle service
from their strip hotels (Caesars Palace, Flamingo, Harrah's, Paris, Bally's) to the Rio.
Wynn & Stratosphere as seen from the 33rd floor of Paris Las Vegas on August 12, 2007.
We shot this photo from our hotel room on the 33rd floor of the Paris. Unfortunately you can't open the windows in most hotel rooms, so you get a less
than perfect shot having to shoot through glass that hasn't been cleaned on the outside for who knows how long. We still think this is a good looking
photo though, and we improved it a bit by replacing the natural blackish night sky with pure black.
Wynn & the Las Vegas Strip as seen from the Stratosphere in March 2006.
When we shot this photo, we were expecting this view to exist for at least a few more years, considering that Wynn had just been
built the year before. Much to our surprise, Wynn demolished their employee parking garage and built a second room tower called Encore at Wynn, which now blocks the
view of Wynn from the Stratosphere. Encore was still under construction during our next two trips (August 2007 and December 2007)
so we were unable to get any shots of it lit up at night. On our next trip in December 2008, the Encore was finished being built was still closed until a few days after we left.
Bally's Las Vegas neon encircled front entrance changes colors every few seconds.
Bally's is the home of our very favorite Las Vegas neon display. Above we took 4 different photos and combined them into one
image. You can
order a custom print or poster of
Bally's neon rings from our Zazzle store. Choose from print sizes 15x11, 20x15, 31x23 and 47x35 which you may purchase
as a poster or print on your choice of papers and with or without a variety of frames. Prices start at only $16.30.
You can also see Ballys neon tunnel in the background during a short outdoor scene in "Leaving Las Vegas" with Nicolas Cage and
Elizabeth Shue. Almost every tourist gets a shot of these rings from the sidewalk; the above shots were taken from an elevated
platform about halfway to the casino. It's a great spot for shooting photos but so far we haven't seen other photos online taken
from this angle. (Our other
Las Vegas photo site urbanphotos.net has quite a few posted.)
